I do quite a bit of painting and I don't mean walls. Well I do that too.  But today we are talking about painting pictures with acrylic paints. When I first started, I was confused. Do you draw first, then paint.? Do you just paint and hope for the best? I'm still not sure which is the "correct" way to paint, but I have developed my own methods.
First, I like to do a rough sketch of the area to be painted. That makes me focus on some details I might otherwise miss. I might take a picture if it is at a certain time of day. Then I draw on the canvas, lightly. Then I paint, filling in what I drew and other parts just painting and creating as I go.
When I started, I didn't know what was good canvas and what was good paint. I can't proclaim this over that, but I do know what I like to paint with and that is the paint that US Art Supply carries. I buy what I can afford. US Art Supply Acrylic Paint, is easy to work with and goes on smooth. The colors are consistent. In their 12 Color Set of .4oz Tubes there are high-quality pigments that offer smooth consistency, a satin finish and an excellent covering strength. They are quick drying and are water based. The tubes scre on and off and keep paints fresh. The paint is versatile and can be used on different surfaces: wood, canvas, fabric, and more.
Speaking of more, I do alot more with the paint than paint on canvas. It is not unusual to find me out in the yard painting an old broken ladder that magically becomes a planter.  Whatever the project, US Art Supply Acrylic Paints come through.
