WONDERVEG SLICER TRI BLADE SPIRALIZER
I tried the Spiralizer: wonderful! I tried the Vegetizer: super! And now, I tried the WonderVeg Slicer - Tri Blade Spiralizer (fanfare heard in the distance) AMAZING! Did I throw the others away?? Oh heck no! Read on, I'll tell you why later.
The WonderVeg Slicer is about 5x as big as any of the other slicers, but that isn't what makes it so great. It is a system where you attach your produce (squash, zuchini squash, carrots, apples, etc.) to a round, spiked holder on the left and the other end to a sharp circle on the right. Then while pushing on a handle to press the produce onto the chosen blade, you turn a handle which turns the produce and gives you three types of slices: spiral, curley and sliced. It is very, very quick and clean and clear spirals, curls or slices.
You put a bowl on one side which catches the processed vegetables. A cute little pink brush comes with it and makes clean up very quick. You just wash the blades under running water and brush whatever food particles remain. Wipe or air dry. That's it. You place the three blades on a shelf under the machine's main body. It takes up very little space.
The WonderVeg Slicer comes with a little recipe book that gets you started on your slicing, spiraling curling adventures. I think we sliced, curled and spiraled everything was had in the refridgerator! The first thing I tried was zuchini from the local farmers' market. I had long spirals of zuchini which we found had to be cut into shorter more negotiable lengths which we covered with home-made spaghetti sauce and parmasan cheese.
Zuchini served as the noodles, only the zuchini was way too long! We used the kitchen scissors to cut them down to reasonable length. We warmed them up in the microwave with a little butter, and then poured the spaghetti sauce over the zuchini and it was soooo very good.
Now, why am I keeping the hand held machines? Because there are some small pieces of produce that are too short to go through the larger WonderVeg Slicer. Yes I can cut them up with a knife, but, hey, the hand held slicers are fun to use as well!
